Cuddled (1960)
Cuddled was sculpted during the author’s studies at the Academy of Fine Arts already in 1951. The statue was his life-long inspiration and was rendered in several variations such as one done in larger-than-life limestone (1982). It originated in coincidence: while absorbed in the study of a nude, the sculptor kept on working so that the model first subsided on the pedestal - and then fell asleep. Thus Cuddled came into the world.
