A Song of My Country allegorizes the flow of the river Vltava (Moldau) through the figure of a girl floating above the standing statue of Music.
I intended to express the pure Czech poetic aspect of Smetana’s music. The pair of statues serve as an allegory of the Vltava River and the Muse of Music – represented by the figures of two girls – and should evoke the current of the national river: from its source to the Vyšehrad hill. I aimed to capture not only a symbol of our national music but also a poetic profession of love for my country and its genuine culture. (J. Hána)
